McDonagh, known for his biting, darkly comic style, penned the plays The Beauty Queen of Leenane, The Lonesome West, The Pillowman and The Lieutenant of Inishmore — all seen on Broadway (and Tony Award-nominated). Off-Broadway has also seen productions of his The Cripple of Inishmaan (twice) and A Skull in Connemara. He earned an Academy Award for his first foray into film with the short, "Six Shooter," and followed it up with an Academy Award nomination for his feature-length "In Bruges."
