News PHOTO CALL: Actors’ Fund Says “Let the Sunshine In” with Release of Hair CD On September 20, 2004, many of Broadway’s biggest names participated in a sold-out concert performance of the cult musical Hair, with all proceeds benefiting the Actors’ Fund of America. The concert was such a success that a CD recording was released on June 16.

The landmark musical is considered to be the original rock opera, pre-dating others such as Godspell, Jesus Christ Superstar and The Who’s Tommy, and paving the way for an innovative new type of musical to run on Broadway.
