News   PHOTO CALL: Amanda Peet, Michael Ian Black, Naomi Watts, Emily Mortimer and More at Public's Knickerbocker Opening Night Alexander Chaplin, Mia Barron, Ben Shenkman and Bob Dishy star in the New York premiere of Jonathan Marc Sherman's Knickerbocker — about a man facing fatherhood for the first time — which officially opened May 19 at the Public Theater.

Pippin Parker directs the Public LAB production that began previews May 6 and will run through May 29. Knickerbocker is the final production in the 2010-2011 Public LAB season.

In addition to Chaplin ("Spin City," The Petrified Prince), Barron (The Coast of Utopia), Shenkman (Proof, Sight Unseen) and Dishy (Sly Fox, Morning's at Seven), the cast features Christina Kirk (Well, Clybourne Park), Drew Madland and Zak Orth ("Romeo + Juliet," Major Barbara).

Here is a look at the opening night:

Here's how the Public bills the play: "'Are you ready?' Jerry confronts this question from the womb of his favorite restaurant booth while the months pass by and the son he and his wife Pauline are expecting grows from the size of a peach to the size of...a baby. As the due date approaches, can friends and family members help Jerry feel prepared, or just feel worse, like some un-anonymous sperm donor terrified of making the transition from being the son of a father to being the father of a son?"

The Public has also announced a May 24 post-performance talkback session with playwright Sherman, Jocelyn Prince and Alan Berliner, entitled "Childhood Memories and Grown-Up Dreams."

For tickets, priced $15, phone (212) 967-7555 or visit PublicTheater.

The Public Theater is located at 425 Lafayette Street in Manhattan.
