Olympia Dukakis (right) is the one woman star of Rose, the play by Martin Sherman (center). With them is famed film and opera director Franco Zefferelli ("Tea With Mussolini").

Rose is the postwar story of a Jewish diaspora, as told by an immigrant woman who has traveled from the Ukraine to Miami Beach. While sitting shiva for a loved one left unnamed until the final moments of the play, the eponymous Rose tells of her childhood in a Russian shtetl, marriage and terror in the Warsaw ghetto, the Exodus to aborning Israel, a second marriage in Atlantic City, success as a hotelier in Miami, and, finally, disillusionment with contemporary Jewish culture. Rose is running at Broadway's Lyceum Theatre.
