The cast, under the direction of Paul Mullins in Storrs, CT, features Equity actors Ken Clark as Bobby Strong and Broadway's Bob Walton as Caldwell B. Cladwell, plus graduate acting student Robert Thompson, Jr. as Officer Lockstock, and undergraduate acting students Alexandra Perlwitz as Little Sally, and Ali Barton as Hope Cladwell, plus MFA actors Brooks Brantly, Kevin Coubal, Gretchen Goode, Christina Greer, Ryan Guess, Phil Korth, Philip AJ Smithey, and Brian Patrick Williams; and BFA actors Jack Fellows, Michelle Goodman, Seth Koproski, Aaron Lloyd, Molly Martinez, James Turner, Krystal Sobaskie and Laura Zabbo.
The Brechtian musical comedy by lyricist-librettist Greg Kotis and composer-lyricist Mark Hollmann concerns a world where water is scarce, private toilets are illegal, and a corrupt corporation has a monopoly on public bathrooms. Penelope, who belts out her songs, runs a public toilet.
The absurd musical won 2002 Tonys for Best Score, Best Book and Best Direction (John Rando).
Performances play the Harriet S. Jorgensen Theatre on the Storrs campus of the University of Connecticut. Weeknight evening performances start at 7:30 PM. Weekend evening performances start at 8 PM. Matinee performances start at 2 PM.
