Anne Hathaway, Benjamin Walker, Lin-Manuel Miranda and more were on hand at Lapham’s Quarterly's first annual gala. Decades Ball: The 1920s was held May 14 at 583 Park Avenue.

Leonard Riggio, Chairman of Barnes & Noble, Inc., presided as Benefit Chair and Oskar Eustis hosted the evening.

The star-studded program included Anne Hathaway reading Dorothy Parker, Sam Waterston reading Don Marquis, Benjamin Walker reading Ernest Hemingway, Colin Donnell singing Cole Porter and Maude Maggart singing Noël Coward. Lin-Manuel Miranda presented the Janus Prize to Pulitzer Prize-winning historian Ron Chernow.

Lapham’s Quarterly is an award-winning and critically-acclaimed journal of history and ideas, praised by the historian David McCullough as “a godsend and a genuine treasure,” and by the novelist Dave Eggers as “brilliant and much needed.” Lapham’s Quarterly was a National Magazine Award Finalist in 2011 for its issues on “Religion,” “Arts & Letters,” and “The City.”
