Man of La Mancha composer Mitch Leigh and playwright August Wilson both have brought Brian Stokes Mitchell to Broadway. Mitchell is currently playing Don Quixote in Leigh's musical, while a couple of seasons back, he was starring in Wilson's King Hedley II at the Virginia Theatre.

Man of La Mancha, the classic musical based on Cervantes novel, "Don Quixote," began previews at the Martin Beck Theatre Nov. 23 for an opening Dec. 5. Mitchell, following in the steps of Richard Kiley and Raul Julia, stars as Don Quixote with Ernie Sabella as his faithful friend Sancho and Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio as the whore Aldonza turned virginal beauty in Quixote's mind.
