Bernadette Peters performed a sampling of the songs featured on her new album, "Sondheim, etc., etc.," for none other than the man himself on July 26.

Recorded in 1996 during her solo debut at New York City's iconic Carnegie Hall, "Sondheim etc., etc.-Live at Carnegie Hall: The Rest of It" showcases why the actress is considered one of the foremost interpreters of the composer's work.

At left, Peters is seen before taking center stage, while below, she gets a hug from Sondheim after the performance at Ruth's Chris Steakhouse on West 51st Street in Manhattan.

Peters was nominated for a 1984 Tony Award for her work in Sondheim's Sunday in the Park with George.
