The book, published on the Blue Apple Books label, features illustrations by Liz Murphy. Included is a CD containing a reading of the story by Peters and an original song ("Kramer's Song") composed by the actress. Peters performed the tune live at the Monday event. Amazon.com describes the story as such: "In a park in New York City lives a lonely little dog. He remembers when he used to get taken for walks, fed dinner every night, and told he was a good dog. Now, he's all alone and must fend for himself. But everything changes one day when he sees a lady reading in the park and decides to follow her—all the way to a place where he might become a star!"
Sales of the book benefit Broadway Barks, the charitable organization co-founded by Peters and Mary Tyler Moore over a decade ago.
Broadway Barks 10 — the annual animal adoption event held in Shubert Alley - is scheduled this year for July 12.
