News PHOTO CALL: Broadway Stands Up for Freedom! Concert With Lindsay Mendez, Darius de Haas, Julia Murney and More The Broadway Stands Up for Freedom benefit concert, featuring Lindsay Mendez, Darius de Haas and Julia Murney was held July 23 at the Skirball Center.

Seth Rudetsky hosted and musical directed the concert that was directed by Daniel Goldstein (Godspell). Tony Kushner was the evening's honorary chair.

Participants included Mendez (Dogfight, Godspell), Uzo Aduba (Godspell), Nikki Renée Daniels (Porgy & Bess), de Haas (Rent), Ripley Sobo (Once), The Broadway Boys, Ethan Lipton and his Orchestra, and founding performer Liana Stampur with Clinton Curtis.

Broadway Stands Up for Freedom! Concert with Lindsay Mendez, Darius de Haas, Julia Murney and More


All proceeds benefit the NYCLU's youth programming, including work for LGBT teenagers; the Teen Health Initiative, which educates teenagers on their rights to access health care in New York City; and its work to stop overly aggressive policing and military recruiting in the city’s public schools.
