News PHOTO CALL: Cabaret: Doogie Howser, Emcee Neil Patrick Harris stepped into the role of the Emcee in Broadway's Cabaret Jan. 3.

Although Harris was once most associated with his starring television role on "Doogie Howser, MD," the actor has, of late, become better known for his musical theatre chops. His first singing stage stint of note was as Mark in Rent, but since he has gone on to feature in readings (and the upcoming Roundabout revival) of Assassins and concert versions of Sweeney Todd. He made his Broadway debut in Proof opposite Anne Heche.

Currently in the Cabaret company are Molly Ringwald (Sally Bowles), Tom Bosley (Herr Schultz), Rick Holmes (Clifford Bradshaw) and Carole Shelley (Fraulein Schneider).

Past Emcees have included Alan Cumming, Michael C. Hall, Matt McGrath and Raul Esparza.
