News PHOTO CALL: Cast Hopes Fame Will Live Forever The cast of Fame on 42nd St. relishes their opening night bow at the Little Shubert Theatre in New York City on Nov. 11.

The musical, based on the popular film and the television series spawned by it, is making its Big Apple debut and has been in previews since Oct. 7. The production follows the lives of a group of performing arts students at a New York High School for the Performing Arts in the 80's. A cast recording is due in stores on Nov. 18. Drew Scott Harris directs the New York production with choreography by Lars Bethke. The creative team also includes Norbert Kolb (sets), Ken Billington (lights), Paul Tazwell (costumes) and Christopher "Kit" Bond (sound). Fame is being produced Off-Broadway by Richard Martini, Allen Spivak and Dodger Stage Holding by arrangement with The Father Fame Foundation.
