News PHOTO CALL: Chariots of Fire Plays London Chariots of Fire, adapted for the stage by Mike Bartlett from Colin Welland's Oscar-winning screenplay for the 1981 Enigma Productions film of the same name, plays the Hampstead Theatre through June 16 and will transfer to the West End's Gielgud June 23.

Based on the true story of two young track athletes who represented Britain in the 1924 Olympic Games, the roles of Eric Liddell, a devout Scottish Christian who runs for the glory of God, and Harold Abrahams, the son of an immigrant Lithuanian Jew who runs to overcome prejudice, will be played Jack Lowden and James McArdle, respectively.

The cast also includes Sam Archer (Athlete), Joe Bannister (Frank), Antonia Bernath (Florence Mackenzie), Natasha Broomfield (Jennie Liddell), Gareth Charlton (Athlete), Henry Davis (Athlete), Mark Edel-Hunt (Aubrey Montague), Lloyd Everitt (Athlete), Daniel Fraser (Athlete), Nickolas Grace (Master Of Trinity), Leemore Marrett Jr (Athlete), David Newman (Prince of Wales), Matthew Pearson (Sandy McGrath), Simon Slater (Mr Liddell/Foster), Savannah Stevenson (Sybil Gordon), Paul Tinto (Secretary of the Gilbert and Sullivan Society), Simon Williams (Master of Caius), Tam Williams (Lord Andrew Lindsay) and Nicholas Woodeson (Sam Mussabini).
