"Tony Kushner and Oskar Eustis in Conversation," hosted on May 8 by Tony Award winner Cynthia Nixon, was the final seasonal offering of The Public Theater's Public Forum series.

The Public Forum, according to press notes, "is a high-profile new series of lectures, debates, and conversations. Curated by Jeremy McCarter, the Forum features leading voices in politics, media, and the arts."

In Kushner's new play The Intelligent Homosexual’s Guide to Capitalism and Socialism with a Key to the Scriptures, he writes about politics and family in America today—plus unions, real estate and love. Kushner discussed these topics with Public Theater artistic director Eustis, following an introduction from special guest Nixon.

Here is a look at the discussion:

Kushner is the playwright of The Intelligent Homosexual’s Guide… which is set to officially open at the Public Theater May 5. His other plays include A Bright Room Called Day, Angels in America, Parts One and Two, Slavs!, Homebody/Kabul and Caroline, or Change, a musical with composer Jeanine Tesori. He is the recipient of a Pulitzer Prize, two Tony Awards, three Obie Awards, two Evening Standard Awards, an Olivier Award, an Emmy Award and an Oscar nomination, among other honors. In 2008, he was the first recipient of the Steinberg Distinguished Playwright Award.

The Public Theater is located at 425 Lafayette Street. For more information, visit
