Barry Humphries, the actor alter ego of Broadway's Dame Edna, attened the Putting It Together opening with his wife Lizzie and son.
The two-act Sondheim retrospective includes 33 songs and an entr'acte (orchestrated by longtime Sondheim collaborator Jonathan Tunick). Shows represented are The Frogs, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Anyone Can Whistle, Company, Follies, A Little Night Music, Sweeney Todd, Merrily We Roll Along, Sunday in the Park With George, Into the Woods, Assassins, the film "Dick Tracy" and the unproduced TV musical, "Do You Hear a Waltz?"
Putting It Together stars TV and film's Carol Burnett, George Hearn (Sweeney Todd), Ruthie Henshall (Chicago), Bronson Pinchot ("Perfect Strangers") and John Barrowman (The Fix). Performances began Oct. 30 at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre.
