Celebrating the May 30 Off-Broadway opening of This Thing of Darkness were actors Daniel Eric Gold and Chris Messina, flanking the play's co-playwright David Schulner (who scripted Darkness with Craig Lucas) as well as their elder company members, musical theatre's Larry Keith (Cabaret, Titanic) and Ralph Waite ("The Waltons").
Darkness, which takes its title from a line spoken by Prospero in The Tempest, tells of two young men suddenly confronted by their futures, and "explores the nature and importance of love — that thread of continuity which helps us survive in an increasingly disposable culture."
