Picking up their Drama Desk nominations May 1 at The Palm were Kevin Chamberlin (part of the Dirty Blonde ensemble, nominated for Best Play), Audra McDonald (Best Actress in a Musical) and Boyd Gaines (Best Actor in a Musical).
Bebe Neuwirth will host the Drama Desk ceremony May 14. The 51-year-old Awards comprises New York theatre journalists, critics and writers. Unlike the Tonys and other awards, the Drama Desk honors Broadway, Off-Broadway, not-for-profit and Off-Off-Broadway productions, with categories often sporting nominees from productions big and small, Uptown and Downtown.
