Les Waters — who staged the Ruhl work at Berkeley Repertory Theatre in 2004, then at Yale Repertory Theatre (with this cast) — returned for the New York staging at the midtown Manhattan stage. Previews began May 30 for the production, which ends the current Second Stage season; the play runs through July 28. From the pen of Pulitzer Prize finalist Ruhl (The Clean House) comes a new take on "the classic myth of Orpheus and Eurydice through the eyes of its heroine as she journeys to the underworld and struggles to retain her memories of her lost love." The work premiered at Madison Repertory Theatre in 2003 and has also been seen at the Williamstown Theatre Festival.
