British director Richard Eyre (second from right) and The Crucible's playwright Arthur Miller (far right) take an opening night bow alongside their cast, including Laura Linney, Liam Neeson and Brian Murray, March 7 at the Viriginia Theatre.
The Crucible, written by Arthur Miller in reaction to the McCarthy witch hunts of the 1950s and based in part on historical fact, tells of leaders in puritannical Salem overreacting to a rash of phony witchcraft in its young women. Liam Neeson stars as John Proctor with Laura Linney as his cold, but strong wife Elizabeth. The Crucible plays through June 8 at the Virginia Theatre.
