Produced by Bill Kenwright and Marla Rubin, Festen is adapted from the popular 1998 Dogme film by Thomas Vinterberg, Mogens Rukov and Bo hr. Hansen. The play’s action comes when Christian, one of two sons helping their father to celebrate his 60th birthday in the Danish countryside, “feels compelled to break the silence surrounding a dark family secret,” according to production notes.
