News PHOTO CALL: First Look at Corbin Bleu as Godspell's Jesus Corbin Bleu, the "High School Musical" star who made his Broadway debut as charismatic narrator Usnavi in In the Heights, will return to The Great White Way in the current revival of Stephen Schwartz's Godspell.

Bleu will step into the role of Jesus beginning April 17. Hunter Parrish, who created the role for this revival, will play his final performance April 15.

In a statement composer Schwartz said, "I know Corbin Bleu has a special affinity for Godspell, and with his great talent, charisma, and radiant energy, I know he will be terrific in the show. I am very much looking forward to working with him and seeing him as our new Jesus."  

Bleu became an international name as "Chad Danforth" in the Emmy Award-winning Disney Channel Original Movie "High School Musical," its sequel "High School Musical 2" (the highest-rated Disney Channel Original Movie in history and overall highest-rated program in cable history), and the 2008 feature film "High School Musical 3: Senior Year." Bleu was also seen on the CW's "The Beautiful Life" starring opposite Elle Macpherson, Mischa Barton and Sara Paxton.

Directed by Daniel Goldstein and choreographed by Tony Award nominee Christopher Gattelli, Godspell stars Parrish as Jesus and Wallace Smith as Judas, and co-stars Uzo Aduba, Nick Blaemire, Celisse Henderson, Morgan James, Telly Leung, Lindsay Mendez, George Salazar and Anna Maria Perez de Tagle.
