The New England premiere of the stage version of Disney's phenomenon has its official opening July 5. According to production notes, the piece "follows Gabriella, a shy, brainy new student and Troy, the captain of the basketball team as they discover a love for singing and audition for their high school musical."
Directed and choreographed by Barry Ivan, the 37-member cast features David Nathan Perlow, Addi McDaniel, Andrew Keenan-Bolger, Kate Rockwell, Fred Inkley and Nancy Johnston. Among the ensemble are 12 talented local performers from 10 different Massachusetts communities.
