News   PHOTO CALL: Howe and Atlantic Go Absurd with Ionesco Classics Two classic pieces of absurdist theatre, The Bald Soprano and The Lesson, by Eugene Ionesco, are being revived by Off-Broadway's Atlantic Theatre Company.

The pieces are freshly translated by playwright Tina Howe. After the opening on Sept. 19, the cast and crew gathered at La Belle Vie restaurant on Manhattan's Eighth Avenue to celebrate.

At left are Howe and actress Jan Maxwell (Sixteen Wounded), performers Maggie Kiley and Steven Skybell, director Carl Forsman, cast members Michael Countryman and Christa Scott-Reed.

The Bald Soprano has settings by Loy Arcenas, costumes by Theresa Squire, lighting by Josh Bradford, and sound by Obediah Eaves. The production is scheduled to run through Oct. 17.
