Goodman artistic director Robert Falls directs Hughie, which also features Joe Grifasi. Jennifer Tarver helms Krapp's Last Tape. Performances begin Jan. 16 towards a Jan. 25 opening.
Hughie centers around high-rolling gambler Erie (Dennehy) and Hughie and a new night clerk (Grifasi) at his apartment building. In Krapp's Last Tape, the self-absorbed title character prepares to record his memories of the last year and revisits his previous birthday tapes.
The production will include Bernstein’s incidental music for Lillian Hellman’s adaptation of The Lark, and Menotti’s The Unicorn, The Gorgon, and The Manticore.
Based on the novel and film by Frank Cottrell Boyce, the new musical will reunite Guettel with Tony-winning Light in the Piazza director Bartlett Sher.
