The cirque-inspired revival of Pippin and the high-grossing musical Motown took home top honors.

Presenters at the awards ceremony included Tony Award winners Susan Stroman, Bebe Neuwirth, Cady Huffman, Kathleen Marshall and Karen Ziemba, Rex Reed, Lee Roy Reams and Harry Belafonte, and some of the special guest performers for the evening included Laura Osnes, Mary Testa, Christiane Noll and Anna Bergman.

The Astaire Awards honor excellence in dance and choreography on Broadway and in film. Veteran dancer Marge Champion, who last appeared on Broadway in the 2001 revival of Follies, was honored alongside Rodgers and Hammerstein Organization president Theodore S. Chapin during the awards gala.

Charlotte d'Amboise (Pippin) took home the award for Outstanding Female Dancer in a Broadway Show, and Eric LaJuan Summers (Motown) for Outstanding Male Dancer in a Broadway Show; Chet Walker (Pippin) and Patricia Wilcox and Warren Adams (Motown) tied for Outstanding Choreographer of a Broadway Show.
