The season opener of the Winter 2013 Musicals in Mufti Series co-stars Tony winner Jason Alexander and four-time Tony nominee Tovah Feldshuh.

Here's a look at a recent rehearsal.

Joining Alexander as Noah and Feldshuh as Esther are Frank Calamaro, Natalie Cortez (West Side Story, A Chorus Line, Giant at The Public), Claybourne Elder (Bonnie & Clyde), Ruthie Ann Miles, Josh Tower (Ragtime, The Lion King) and Tiffan Borelli; the latter replaced the previously announced Elizabeth Stanley due to a scheduling conflict.

Lyricist Charnin directs the production with a revised book by the late Stone. The musical bowed on Broadway in 1970. With music direction by Christopher McGovern, the limited engagement plays five performances Feb. 15-17 at The York Theatre Company at Saint Peter's.

Two By Two features a book by Stone and music by Richard Rodgers. "The story of Noah and the Ark is a musical adaptation of Clifford Odets' play The Flowering Peach and is retold with Noah and his family characterized in modern Jewish vernacular," according to Off-Broadway's York. "It seems that the building of the ark was only the first of Noah's many daunting challenges in a journey that wasn't always smooth sailing. By turns inspirational and hilarious, it's good fun from The Good Book and when the land has dried, man and beast alike are invited to go forth and prosper in a bright New World."

Jason Alexander is best known for his stint as George Costanza on the hit TV series "Seinfeld." On Broadway, he starred in the original companies of Merrily We Roll Along; The Rink; Broadway Bound; Accomplice; and Jerome Robbins' Broadway, for which he won the Tony, Outer Critics, and Drama Desk Awards as Best Actor in a Musical. He is the artistic director of the Reprise Theatre Company in L.A. Alexander also starred in the L.A. production of The Producers with Martin Short. He just completed directing the world premiere of a new stage revue, When You're In Love, The Whole World is Jewish.

Tovah Feldshuh recently starred as Lady Politic in Volpone at the Lucille Lortel Theatre. Notable Broadway credits include Golda's Balcony (the longest running one-woman play in Broadway history); Irena's Vow; Lend Me A Tenor; Yentl; Saravà!; Cyrano; Rodgers and Hart; Dreyfus in Rehearsal; and at the Roundabout: She Stoops to Conquer, Springtime for Henry and Mistress of the Inn. She has earned four Tony nominations for Best Actress and won four Drama Desk Awards, four Outer Critics Circle Awards, the Obie, the Theatre World Award and the Lucille Lortel Award for Best Actress. She is the recipient of two honorary doctorates and the Israel Peace Medal. Her latest endeavor is entitled Aging is Optional.

Show times are Friday at 8 PM, Saturday at 2:30 PM and 8 PM and Sunday at 2:30 PM and 7:30 PM. Audience discussions follow matinees.

Tickets are priced $39.50 and are available online at yorktheatre.org, by calling (212) 935-5820, or in person at the box office at the York Theatre Company at Saint Peter's (entrance on East 54th Street, just east of Lexington Avenue).

The York Theatre Company's Musicals in Mufti series features musical theatre gems in simply-staged, book-in-hand concert format. Mufti means "in street clothes, without the trappings associated with the original full productions."

Musicals in Mufti will continue with Hollywood Pinafore (Kaufman/Sullivan) (March 1-3), Happy Hunting (Lindsay & Crouse/Dubey/Karr) (March 15-17) and Silk Stockings (Kaufman/MacGrath/Porter) (March 22-24).
