Reknowned television journalists Peter Jennings and Walter Cronkite attended the Sept. 17 opening night performance of Gore Vidal's The Best Man with their wives, Kaycee and Betsy, respectively.
Gore Vidal's The Best Man, a three-act drama set at a 1960 Presidential Convention in Philadelphia, began performances at the Virginia Theatre Sept. 5. The revival (the original Best Man premiered at the Morosco Theatre March 31, 1960) runs through Dec. 31. Ethan McSweeny directs stars Charles Durning, Spalding Gray, Chris Noth, Elizabeth Ashley, Christine Ebersole and Michael Learned.
