News PHOTO CALL: John Slattery, Giancarlo Esposito and More Celebrate Atlantic's Harper Regan Opening Christopher Innvar, Mary McCann, Mary Beth Peil, Jordan Lage, Madeleine Martin, Gareth Saxe and more bring Simon Stephens' tale of Harper Regan to life for Off-Broadway's Atlantic Theater Company. The tale of a woman who walks away from her home and family opened Oct. 10 at the Linda Gross Theater in Chelsea.

The production directed by Gaye Taylor Upchurch marks the New York City premiere of the drama by Olivier Award winner Stephens, the British author of Bluebird, which had its U.S. premiere under Upchurch's direction at Atlantic in 2011. The limited engagement ends Oct. 28.

Here's how ATC characterizes the new work: "One strange evening, Harper Regan (McCann) decides to walk away from her husband (Saxe), her daughter (Martin) and her home. She tells no one where she's going or whether she's ever coming back. She tosses family, history and fate straight up in the air, and it looks like she might be gone for good. In Simon Stephens' acclaimed play, which premiered in 2008 at the U.K.'s National Theatre, we are folded into an absorbing story about a woman who explores the limits of loyalty, morality, and the bonds of family."

Founding Atlantic Theater Company member McCann most recently starred Off-Broadway in Simon Stephens' Bluebird. She appeared in the original casts of the world premieres of Spring Awakening, Ethan Coen's Almost an Evening and Offices and starred in Annie Baker's acclaimed world premiere play Body Awareness at Atlantic.

McCann is in the company of Broadway veterans Christopher Innvar (Porgy and Bess), Jordan Lage (Race), Madeleine Martin (August: Osage County), Mary Beth Peil (Follies), Gareth Saxe (The Lion King), Peter Scanavino (Shining City), Vandit Bhatt (The Great Recession), Mahira Kakkar (Sophistry), John Sharian (Bluebird) and Stephen Tyrone Williams (My Children! My Africa!). Stephens' plays include the Olivier Award-winning On the Shore of the Wide World, Herons, Port, One Minute, Christmas and Country Music, among others produced throughout the U.K. He is the artistic associate at the Lyric, Hammersmith in London.

The design team for Harper Regan includes scenic designer Rachel Hauck, costume designer Sarah J. Holden and original music and sound design by Fitz Patton.

With this production, Atlantic officially inaugurated its expanded and renovated mainstage on West 20th Street (though John Patrick Shanley's Storefront Church did play there last June.) Read the Playbill.com story about the venue's starry Oct. 1 re-opening ceremony.

All tickets are $70 and available by calling TicketCentral.com at (212) 279-4200 or at the Atlantic Stage 2 box office at 330 West 16th Street. The Linda Gross mainstage is at 336 W. 20th Street.
