In The Umbrellas of Cherbourg, "20-year-old French auto mechanic Guy Fouchier has fallen in love with 17-year-old Geneviève Emery, an employee in her widowed mother's chic umbrella shop. On the evening before Guy is to leave for a two-year tour of combat in Algeria, he and Geneviève vow to remain lovers. After discovering she is carrying Guy’s child she must choose between waiting for his return or accepting an offer of marriage from a wealthy diamond merchant."

Directed by Emma Rice, recently represented on Broadway by the transfer of her Kneehigh production of Brief Encounter to Studio 54, the cast of The Umbrellas of Cherbourg includes Joanna Riding, Meow Meow, Carly Bawden, Gareth Charlton, Andrew Durand, Cynthia Erivo, Dominic Marsh, Aki Omoshaybi, Laura Brydon and Matt Wilman.
The show will begin performances in London March 5, prior to an official opening March 22, and is currently booking through Oct. 1. It is currently playing a tryout at at Leicester's Curve Theatre through Feb. 26.
