Baz Lurhman's La Bohème moves the action of the classic opera from Paris in the 1830's to the mid-20th Century.

Oscar nominee Lurhman's staging of the classic Puccini opera about doomed lovers loving and losing among the poor poets, artists and writers of Bohemian Paris begins previews at the Broadway Theatre Nov. 22 after a pre-Broadway run in San Francisco (through Nov. 10). Lurhman's interpretation sets the Italian opera in 1957-58 and will be sung in the original with slangy English surtitles. The opera is triple-cast with color-coded rotating members — the "Red" (Ekaterina Solovyeva as Mimi and David Miller as Rodolfo), the "White" (Wei Huang as Mimi and Alfred Boe as Rudolfo) and the "Blue" (Lisa Hopkins as Mimi and Jesus Garcia).
