News   PHOTO CALL: LaChanze and Sarah Jones Cited for Performances by National Arts Club The Color Purple’s leading lady LaChanze and Bridge and Tunnel’s solo writer-performer Sarah Jones were honored by the National Arts Club for their efforts onstage this past Broadway season on June 5.

The Club awarded both their Citation of Merit for the Performing Arts in a ceremony at their building. LaChanze is Tony-nominated for her role in the Oprah Winfrey produced musical of Alice Walker’s novel, while Jones has already been awarded a special Tony for her hit one-woman show.

Below, the Reverend Al Sharpton is flanked by La Chanze and Jones, as they received their honors from the National Arts Club, located at 15 Gramercy Park in New York City.
