News PHOTO CALL: LaChiusa, Gettelfinger, O’Hara Among Those at New American Musical Voices Project Awards Virginia’s Signature Theatre bestowed the first of its American Musical Voices Project Awards at a lavish ceremony on May 15.

The Project, made possible by The Shen Family Foundation, is “an unprecedented two-prong program consisting of Musical Theatre Composer Grants and Musical Theatre Leadership Awards. Included in the grant is $250,000 designated to Signature Theatre’s capital campaign to support the new theatre complex in the Village at Shirlington and to nurture Signature’s artistic and organizational expansion,” according to press materials. At left, Michael John LaChiusa (the first of the winners along with Ricky Ian Gordon and Joseph Thalken) and Oskar Eustis, as well as Sara Gettelfinger and Michael Arden are seen at the ceremony.
