The Asolo Rep is also where Wildhorn debuted his musical Svengali in 2006. He earned a Tony Award nomination for the score to The Scarlet Pimpernel. Wildhorn's musicals also include The Civil War, Dracula, Camille Claudel, The Count of Monte Cristo, Carmen, Rudolf, Mitsuko, Never Say Goodbye and Tears of Heaven. The prolific composer's upcoming projects include Havana, Casanova, Excalibur, Mata Hari, Ali, Zelda, Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein and Wonderland, which will arrive on Broadway in March 2011.
The production will include Bernstein’s incidental music for Lillian Hellman’s adaptation of The Lark, and Menotti’s The Unicorn, The Gorgon, and The Manticore.
Based on the novel and film by Frank Cottrell Boyce, the new musical will reunite Guettel with Tony-winning Light in the Piazza director Bartlett Sher.
