Smith stars as “an aging widow who leaves her son and daughter in a small Houston apartment to visit the home where she grew up, where she hopes to regain her dignity and peace of mind,” according to production notes. At left, Smith is seen after the performance with director Harris Yulin, as well as recent Tony Award winner Bill Irwin and his wife Martha. Below, Estelle Parsons, playwright Foote and his daughter Hallie Foote celebrate the productions’s opening night at the West Bank Cafe on West 42nd Street in midtown Manhattan.
