The show was a sold-out success at this year's Under the Radar Festival at The Public. All proceeds from the evening benefited the Belarus Free Theater, which is facing persecution in their homeland; in fact, company members barely escaped prison to travel to New York to perform the work.
Here's a look at the evening:
Being Harold Pinter incorporates Pinter's writings with transcripts from Belarussian political prisoners. The cast includes Belarus Free Theatre members Pavel Garadnitski, Irene Iarochevitch, Mikalai Khalezin, Yana Rusakevich, Aleh Sidorchyk, Dzianis Tarasenka and Maryna Yurevich. Uladzimir Shcherban adapted and directs the play.
Also appearing at the event were were Josh Hamilton, Mandy Patinkin, Lily Rabe, Olympia Dukakis, Stephen Spinella, Linda Emond and Tony Kushner.
