News PHOTO CALL: Montego Glover Celebrates Benny Goodman With the New York Pops Tony nominee Montego Glover (Memphis) performed with the New York Pops in "Sing Sing Swing," a tribute to the 75th anniversary of Benny Goodman's live recording at Carnegie Hall, Nov. 1 at 8 PM.

Held at Carnegie Hall's Stern Auditorium/Perelman Stage, the concert was conducted by music director Steven Reineke and featured clarinetist Dave Bennett.

Montego Glover Celebrates Benny Goodman With the New York Pops


Selections included "Blues in the Night," "And the Angels Sing" and "I Got Rhythm." 

“The program also pays tribute to the 75th anniversary of Benny Goodman’s storied debut at Carnegie Hall with his jazz orchestra," press notes state. "The concert, which took place on Jan. 16, 1938, helped to elevate the status of swing music in the US and beyond, and included some of the brightest jazz luminaries of the day, including Count Basie and members of the Duke Ellington orchestra. The recording of Goodman’s performance at Carnegie Hall remains one of the best-selling jazz albums of all time."

The also feature dthe winners of the Strictly Lindy Dance and Contest, which was held Sept. 26 at 8 PM at Providence NYC.
