News PHOTO CALL: Nancy Opel, Claybourne Elder, Bryce Ryness, Leslie Odom Jr. Pump Up the Volume at Joe's Pub A concert presentation of songs from the new musical Pump Up the Volume, featuring Constantine Maroulis, Nancy Opel, Claybourne Elder and Leslie Odom, Jr., was held June 25 at Joe's Pub.

Featuring music by Jeff Thomson (Jawbreaker) and book and lyrics by Jeremy Desmon, the rock musical is based on the 1990 film about a lonely teen who broadcasts a pirate FM radio station from his parents home.

Dave Solomon directed the sold-out 9:30 PM concert that was produced by Katie Riegel. Actress Samantha Mathis, who starred in the original film, made a special appearance.

The evening boasted a line-up including Tony nominees Maroulis (Rock of Ages, Jekyll & Hyde) and Opel (Memphis, Urinetown), as well as Elder (Bonnie & Clyde), Odom, Jr. (Leap of Faith), Emily Padgett (Rock of Ages), Harris Doran (Hair), Caren Lyn Tackett (Hair), Bryce Ryness (Hair), Gabriel Violett (Spring Awakening), Andrew C. Call (American Idiot, Glory Days), Jenna Leigh Green (Wicked, "Sabrina the Teenage Witch") and Lucas Steele (Myths and Hymns).

Ensemble members were Stephanie Kababe, Travis Morin, Zal Owen and Jessica Waxman. Aaron Jodoin led a four-piece band.
