The Princess Grace Awards are named in honor of Princess Grace of Monaco who, "helped aspiring artists pursue their goals throughout her lifetime," according to press materials. The awards, which featured a performace by Alexa Ray Joel, daughter of Billy Joel and Christie Brinkley, were presented by Jesse L. Martin. According to a press release, Twyla Tharp was chosen as the recipient of the second annual Prince Ranier III Award "in honor of her outstanding contribution to the arts." Also among the award recipients, is playwright Adam Rapp, who was honored with a Statue Award with a grant of $25,000.
