Matthew Broderick, one half of Broadway's The Producers, saw his show garner distinguished musical honors and his director Susan Stroman awarded an outstanding achievement in musical theatre at the May 11 Drama League Awards. With him is Follies and film star Blythe Danner.

2001's top Drama League Awards went to Proof and The Producers with Distinguished Revival going to One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. Other awards went to Mary Louise Parker and Gary Sinise for performance, Jack O'Brien for directing and the Steppenwolf Theatre Company of Chicago for outstanding contribution to the theatre.
