News PHOTO CALL: Raúl Esparza, Andy Karl, Sierra Boggess, Chester Gregory and More Celebrate a New York City Christmas Artists Striving to End Poverty and Sh-K-Boom/Ghostlight Records presented the fourth annual pop-rock and yule-flavored New York City Christmas concert Dec. 12 at Joe's Pub. War Horse's Seth Numrich, Godspell's Lindsay Mendez and Tony Award nominees Raul Esparza and Sherie Rene Scott were among participants.

The 7 PM concert featured Broadway stars singing fresh, original approaches — pop, soul, R&B, rock and more — of holiday songs off the "New York City Christmas" album, which is available for purchase at the concert. Proceeds from the event will benefit ASTEP.

Conceived, produced and music-directed by orchestrator Lynne Shankel (Cry-Baby, Altar Boyz), the concert featured performances from Tony nominees Raúl Esparza (Speed-the-Plow, The Homecoming, Company, Taboo), Sherie Rene Scott (Everyday Rapture, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels) and Orfeh (Legally Blonde, Saturday Night Fever), as well as Sierra Boggess (Master Class, The Little Mermaid), Chester Gregory (Sister Act, Dreamgirls), Lindsay Mendez (Godspell, Everyday Rapture), Betsy Wolfe (Tales Of The City, Everyday Rapture), Andy Karl (Wicked, 9 to 5), Sally Wilfert (Make Me A Song, Assassins), recording artist Anya Singleton, David Josefsberg (The Wedding Singer, Altar Boyz), Michael Buchanan (Addams Family, Cry-Baby), Katy Basile, Derrick Cobey, Carlos Encinias, Desi Oakley, Seph Stanek and Julia Burrows, among others.

Also appearing were musicians Shankel (on piano), Joe Mowatt (drums/percussion), Randy Landau (bass), Summer Boggess (cello), Justin Smith (violin), Colin Brigstocke (trumpet), Cliff Lyons and Jeff Schiller (saxophones), and Craig Magnano and Michael Aarons (guitars).
