Carolann Page stars in the title role of the new musical, which opens at the York Sept. 5, with an official opening Sept. 14 and plays through Oct. 1. She is joined onstage by Bertilla Baker, Edwin Cahill, John Jellison, Joy Lynn Matthews and Daniel Spiotta. Fabrizio Melano directs with musical direction by Bob Goldstone. "Ten years after the assassination of her husband and the death of three of her sons," reads press notes for the musical, "Mary Todd Lincoln battles for her freedom as she is judged insane and committed to an asylum by her only living son and some of Lincoln's former political allies. Witness her struggle to survive, as she fights to keep alive the eternal love that she and Lincoln shared."
