Brian Stokes Mitchell, Brent Barrett and Karen Ziemba were among the performers at David Merrrick's July 18 memorial service at the St. James Theatre. Mitchell sang "It Only Takes a Moment" from Hello, Dolly!, while Barrett gave selections from Fanny and Ziemba, "The Lullaby of Broadway" from 42nd Street.
Producer Merrick brought 100 shows to Broadway including Hello, Dolly, Look Back in Anger, Irma La Douce, Carnival, Oliver!, Cactus Flower, Marat/Sade, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead, The Happy Times, Promises, Promises, Sugar and Mack and Mabel. His memorial was held at the St. James Theatre, once home to Hello, Dolly! and 42nd Street. Merrick died in his sleep early April 25 in London. He was 88.
