Atlantis Theatrical Entertainment Group presents the Manila premiere of Shrek the Musical at the Meralco Theatre for four weeks only, Sept. 19-Oct. 12.

The hit Broadway and West End musical "is a slightly fractured fairytale that’s big on laughs with a tender heart at it’s core. Audiences will delight in joining Shrek, the unlikely hero, and his wisecracking loyal steed Donkey as they set off on a quest to rescue the beautiful, albeit slightly neurotic, Princess Fiona from her tower guarded by a fire breathing love-sick dragon. Add to the mix Lord Farquaad, a bad guy with a SHORT temper, a gang of fairytale misfits, and a cookie with an attitude and you’ve got a must see musical comedy for the whole family."

Bobby Garcia directs a cast that features Rycharde Everley as Shrek, Shiela Valderrama as Fiona, Nyoy Volante as Donkey, Jett Pangan as Lord Farquaad, Nel Gomez as Pinocchio and Carla Guevara-Laforteza as Dragon.

Shrek has choreography by Cecile Martinez, set sesign by Faust Peneyra, lighting design by Dong Calingacion, costume design by Tony and Olivier Award winner Tim Hatley as executed by Eric Pineda, hair and make up design by Johann Dela Fuente, musical direction by Ceejay Javier and vocal direction by ManMan Angsico. Shrek the Musical is "an entirely new musical" based on the story and characters from William Steig's book "Shrek!," as well as the DreamWorks Animation film "Shrek," the first chapter of the Shrek movie series.

Shrek has music by Jeanine Tesori, a book by David Lindsay-Abaire and lyrics by David Lindsay-Abaire. The musical, studded with R&B, jazz, rock, power ballads and old-fashioned show tunes, received eight 2009 Tony Award nominations, including Best Musical, winning for Best Costume Design of a Musical (Tim Hatley).
