The legendary Ben Vereen, currently starring in Fosse, sings the dance revue's bookend number, "Life is Just a Bowl of Cherries" at the Stars in the Alley concert May 30.
"Stars in the Alley," presented by Continental Airlines and The Chase Manhattan Bank, is a production of The League of American Theatres and Producers. The annual event features music and dance numbers from currently running shows in a free concert held in Broadway's Shubert Alley. Among this year's performers and presenters were Reba McEntire, Dick Cavett, Heather Headley, Ben Vereen, Gina Gershon, Henry Winkler, John Ritter, James Barbour, Deborah Yates, Boyd Gaines, Blast! and Tony nominees Marla Schaffel, Patrick Wilson, John Ellison Conlee, Robert Sean Leonard, Richard Easton, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Gary Beach, Cady Huffman and Christine Ebersole.
