Copenhagen had plenty of reason to celebrate at the post-Tony Awards ball at the Marriott Marquis. Michael Blakemore (second from left) scored a first in Tony Awards history - he won both director of a musical (Kiss Me, Kate) and director of a play (Copenhagen). Second from the right is the drama's playwright, Michael Frayn, winner of the Best Play honor. The 2000 Tony Awards, awarded June 4, picked Copenhagen and Contact as the best of Broadway with Blakemore taking home both director prizes (the first time in Tony history), Brian Stokes Mitchell and Heather Headley winning the top acting awards and Susan Stroman nabbing best choreography for Contact.
