Founded by larger than life producer Joseph Papp in 1955, the Public Theater has since become one of New York City’s most well-respected incubator of new theatre, despite all of the competition in the most populated theatrical city in the world. At left, F. Murray Abraham and producer Eric Krebs as well as the Public’s new artistic director Oskar Eustis and his wife Laurie, gather to toast the occasion. Below, Chinese singer Yan You and recent Tony nominee Dana Ivey (The Rivals) are seen at the reception to celebrate 50 years of the Public Theater, hosted by the New York Public Library at Lincoln Center.
