Geffen production notes describe the work as such: "A darkly humorous tale about friendship, redemption and betting against the odds, Conor McPherson's Tony-nominated The Seafarer is set in the Dublin home of two brothers on Christmas Eve. When old friends gather for their traditional whiskey-laden card game, a sly stranger joins the mix. As the booze flows and the banter intensifies, the game escalates to damningly high stakes. After all, what fun is poker if your soul isn’t in it?"
Directed by Randall Arney, the five-man cast stars Andrew Connolly, Tom Irwin, John Mahoney, Paul Vincent O'Connor and Matt Roth. Mahoney (known from the hit sitcom "Frasier") and Irwin reprise the roles they played in the winter 2008 Chicago premiere at Steppenwolf.
