Patrick Hamilton’s play about the infamously murderous young duo of Leopold and Lobe was, in addition to being originally produced nearly 80 years ago, also the inspiration for the 1948 Alfred Hitchcock film of the same name. At left, actress Fran Drescher and Drama Department artistic director Douglas Carter Beane, as well as original Chicago merry murderess Bebe Neuwirth, are seen at the show’s official opening. Below, Shawn Elliott, director David Warren and Wonderful Town star Donna Murphy enjoy the after-party for Rope at Camino Sur Restaurant, located at 336 West 37th Street in New York City.
