Among the winners of Theatre World Awards for the 2001-2002 season were Topdog/Underdog's Mos Def, Oklahoma!'s Justin Bohon and The Shape of Things' Gretchen Mol.

The Theatre World Awards honor performers who have graced the New York stage for the first time. Other winners included Emma Fielding (Private Lives), Spencer Kayden (Urinetown), Gretchen Mol (The Shape of Things), Anna Paquin (The Glory of Living), Louise Pitre (Mamma Mia!), Rachel Weisz (The Shape of Things), Justin Bohon (Oklahoma!), Simon Callow (The Mystery of Charles Dickens), Mos Def (Topdog/Underdog), Adam Godley (Private Lives), Martin Jarvis (By Jeeves) and David Warner (Major Barbara).
