The Graduate's Kathleen Turner, The Elephant Man's Billy Crudup and Broadway booster Rosie O'Donnell doled out the prizes at the 2002 Easter Bonnet competition April 23 at the New Amsterdam Theatre.

In 2002, the Easter Bonnet competition raised $1,826,392 for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. Mamma Mia! raised the most money — $162,037 — with Mamma Mia! (as in the first national tour) was first runner-up with $140,077. This was the first time a national tour placed in the Easter Bonnet competition. Oher top fundraisers were Rent ($97,568), The Lion King ($89,548) and The Phantom of the Opera ($84,433). Metamorphoses was the play champion ($102,209), while Naked Boys Singing took home the Off-Broadway prize with $17,605.
